Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to extend an invitation to you to participate in the 9th Balkan Symposium on Archaeometry, which will be held from 4th-7th November in the beautiful city of Zadar, Croatia.

This symposium provides a unique platform for archaeologists, archaeometrists, scientists, and researchers from the Balkan region and beyond to come together to discuss and exchange ideas on the latest developments in archaeological science and methodology.

Symposium Themes:

The Organizing Committee of  9th BSA is pleased to announce the opening of submissions for papers and posters, which contribute to various aspects and areas of archaeometry, including but not limited to:
  • Dating methods (radiocarbon, luminescence, dendrochronology, etc.)
  • Material characterization (ceramics, metals, glass, vitreous materials, lithics, stones, pigments, mortars, organic residues)
  • Provenance and technology (ceramics, metals, glass, vitreous materials, lithics, stones, pigments, mortars, organic residues)
  • Bioarchaeology
  • Environmental archaeology
  • Experimental archaeology
  • Computational reconstructions, simulations and predictive modeling
  • Archaeological prospection and remote sensing
  • Geophysics and geographic information system applications
  • Conservation science case studies: decay processes and implementation of conservation procedures

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit the proposal within the field of heritage science and technical art history, including the following:

 

  • Multidisciplinary research, developments and management in cultural heritage
  • Monuments protection, conservation and restoration projects.

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 1. 9. 2024.
  • Notification of Acceptance: 15. 9. 2024.
  • Early Bird Registration Deadline: 1. 10. 2024.
  • Symposium Dates: 4th – 7th November, 2024.

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES:
Oral Presentations:
Each oral presentation is allotted 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute discussion.
Poster Presentations:
Posters can be prepared in  English language.
Please prepare your posters in the dimensions of 100 cm in height and 70 cm in width (vertical format).
We kindly ask authors to display their posters no later than 15 minutes before the start of the oral presentations.
Authors are responsible for preparing and printing their own posters.
The organizing committee of the BSA 2024 will provide all materials necessary for displaying the posters.
