The International Ethnolinguistic Conference  Homeland and Patriotism in Europe  will be held at the University of Zadar  from 8th to 10th of June 2022.

The Conference is organised by the Centre for Adriatic Onomastics and Ethnolinguistics of the University of Zadar.

Topics of the Conference:

  1. Europe as homeland: national, supranational, and sub-national identity in Europe
  2. The concept of homeland in Slavic nations
  3. The concept of homeland in nations neighbouring Slavic nations
  4. The concept of homeland on the periphery of Europe and the imaginarium of border regions
  5. The concept of homeland outside Europe
  6. The concept of imaginary or former homelands
  7. Distant homelands and “second homelands”: emigration and diaspora
  8. The Mediterranean: locality, campanilismo, and rivalry
  9. Former and current European regions and (multiple) identity
  10. Homeland and affective changes (conceptions, expressions, and representations of emotions/feelings).

The round table of the Conference will be dedicated to the debate on the notion of homeland and patriotism in Europe, especially in the context of the latest tragic war in Ukraine.
