Venue and Acommodation
The conference is hosted by the University of Zadar, Croatia. Situated on the coast of the Adriatic, Zadar is easily accessible by public transportation; it has a good infrastructure with direct connections with the larger cities of the Republic of Croatia: Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, and Dubrovnik.
Car & Bus
The autoroute A1 leads from the capital Zagreb to Zadar. (A bus ride from Zagreb to Zadar is 3.30h long.) It is the main autoroute that connects Zagreb with Dalmatia and it is included in the European corridors V and X, and further leads to Ljubljana, Vienna, Budapest or Belgrade, then Istanbul or Athens.
Boat
Zadar has ferry connections with Ancona in Italy.
Plane
Zadar has an airport in 10 kilometers distance from the city. The period of intensive flights starts in April when the airport is connected with about 30 destinations such as Bucharest, Sofia, Belgrade, London, Brussels, Stockholm, Oslo, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Stuttgart, etc.
VENUE
The full address of the conference venue is “Obala kralja Petra Krešimira IV “.
The University of Zadar is located in the Old City (Peninsula). Most neighborhoods are a walking distance (1-2 km), but please be mindful not to reserve your accommodation on one of the islands (Preko, Ugljan, Pašman, Ošljak, etc).
TRAVEL TIPS
If you are travelling by plane – If there is no direct flight to Zadar from your destination it may be much cheaper (and faster) to book a flight to Zagreb and take a bus to Zadar (3,30h bus ride) depending on where you are coming from, so be sure to check your options.
If you are travelling by train – trains in Dalmatia are unreliable and slow, so it is more efficient to take a train to Rijeka or Zagreb and then take the bus to Zadar.
ACCOMMODATION
Most of Zadar’s accommodations are private apartments. They can be more comfortable and cheaper than other kinds of accommodation. You can search for the available apartments at https://www.booking.com or https://www.airbnb.com.
Booking.com can also be used to book hotels and hostels at discounted prices. It is usually more expensive to book directly with the hotel, but this is not always the case.
City transport
Uber and Bolt are available in the city.
Public Bus
One-way travel tickets are purchased and paid in cash to the bus driver, and two-way tickets are issued and paid in cash at the ticket sales department of the Zadar Bus Station, Ante Starčevića 1, (point of sale no. 15), as well as with contracted vendors, namely:
