About ZLF

Zadar Linguistic Forum (ZLF) is a scientific forum organized by the Department of Linguistics at the University of Zadar – often in collaboration with other institutions – which takes place once a year.

The forum is conceived as a meeting point for linguists, and in the first editions it was especially aimed at young researchers, PhD and Master students, as well as postdoctoral researchers. The first Forum, held in 2014, was a national conference for students studying Linguistics at the Universities of Zadar and Zagreb, and in the following years it acquired a more international character and was organized in the form of a scientific workshop, scientific conference or spring school.

The themes of the ZLF as well as its format change every year. In the first years they remained mostly, although not exclusively, connected to topics especially interesting to young researchers at the beginning of their scientific careers – such as research methodology, writing and publishing of scientific articles in the field of linguistic, research methods in applied linguistics, language documentation and natural language processing.

Recently ZLF hosted international conferences to which prominent scholars participated presenting their most recent research results along with younger researchers. In this vein, we are very glad to announce that also this year’s international ZLF aims at gathering both younger and more experienced researchers. The conference will include both a general session and a workshop about the properties of predicates and argument structure.
